The Institute of Tourism (IHT), led by Minister of Tourism Nelly Jerez, and several Honduran tour operator companies and hotels will exhibit at the BIT 2010 international tourism trade fair in Milan, Italy during February 18-21. According to Mrs. Jerez, the focus of the Honduran delegation will be to negotiate an expansion in the number of charter flights to Honduras. Charters have been flying from Milán to Roatán for many years, and the idea now is to establish new destinations in Honduras. The tourism industry in Honduras generated approximately US$590 million in revenues in 2009.
