Cruise Liner Passengers Visit Pulhapanzak
Last Updated on Wednesday, 13 January 2010 09:11
The Spanish Shipowners Association (ANAVE) cruise liner Christopher Columbus anchored Monday morning at Pier 5 in Puerto Cortés on its way to Roatán and other Caribbean destinations. The ship arrived from Cozumel, Mexico. More than 200 Australian and German passengers disembarked to visit San Pedro Sula and the Pulhapanzak waterfalls near Lake Yojoa. The ship departed in the evening. Although officials for Honduras' National Port Authority said they did not anticipate more cruise ship dockings at Puerto Cortés in the next few months, the visit by the Christopher Columbus adds to a growing sense in Honduras that 2010 will see a rebound in the tourism industry for both the Bay Islands and the mainland. ANAVE is based in Madrid, Spain. (photo of Pulhapanzak waterfalls courtesy Internet)
