Porfirio Lobo Sworn in President of Honduras

Porfirio Lobo Sosa yesterday was sworn in as the 30th constitutional president of Honduras. The inauguration was held in the national stadium in Tegucigalpa. The presidential sash was placed on President Lobo by the president of the Congress, Juan Orlando Hernández. Mr. Lobo, who turned 62 in December, was accompanied by his wife, Rosa Elena de Lobo. Following the ceremony, he visited with Dominican President Leonel Fernández and deposed president Manuel Zelaya at the Brazilian embassy and escorted them in a caravan of about 15 vehicles to Toncontin airport where Mr. Fernández and Mr. Zelaya boarded the Dominican president's private jet and flew to the Dominican Republic. Accompanying Mr. Zelaya were his wife Xiomara, his daughter Hortensia, and closest adviser Rasel Tomé. The aircraft landed at 6 pm at a military base outside the capital city of Santo Domingo.
