Not about Zelaya...

PDF Print E-mail

Above all, when it comes to politics, it is always useful to read different opinions that give the reader the opportunity to analyze an issue from different angles. When it comes to Mr. Zelaya, what I think is missing from many "experts in politics" and those who are reacting to what they are witnessing, is the fact that what we are witnessing in Honduras is not about Zelaya, it is not about an individual. If one has to pay close attention to those who call themselves "Zelaya followers", what they are saying is: "Our needs are not being met. Our needs can no longer be ignored." As poet Roberto Sosa said, we are surrounded by so many poor people that it becomes impossible to ignore them. That to me is the real issue: Not addressing the immediate needs of the 75-80 percent of the population. A very small percentage of Hondurans live well enough to look and dress like the women who were sitting in the front row yesterday at the national stadium. That is offensive in a country like Honduras. Best regards.
