Last Updated on Wednesday, 10 February 2010 09:28
Spain's Secretary of State for Ibero-American Affairs, Juan Pablo de Laiglesia, yesterday visited with President Porfirio Lobo at the Presidential House in Tegucigalpa to discuss the normalization of relations between Spain and Honduras, as well as between the European Union (EU) and Honduras. The visit was part of a broader trip, which includes stops in Guatamala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua by Mr. Laiglesia to strengthen Spain's political and economic ties and brief governments about its interests and priorities in the region. Following his meeting with President Lobo, Mr. Laiglesia said that he was "optimistic about the strengthening of relations between Spain and Honduras in all areas". He invited Mr. Lobo to participate in the seventh annual European Union-Latin American Summit in Madrid, Spain on May 18.
