US Assistant Secretary Valenzuela Will Attend Inauguration

United States Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Arturo Valenzuela will attend the inauguration of President-elect Porforio Lobo on Wednesday. He will be accompanied by Assistant Secretary of State for Economic Affairs José Fernández and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Craig Kelly. At least fifteen other nations will send official delegations to the ceremony. At least four countries will send their presidents, including the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Panama, and Taiwan. The government of Colombia will send Vice-President Francisco Santos, while Perú will be represented by Prime Minister Jorge del Castillo. Assistant Secretary Valenzuela was confirmed to his post on November 5. He replaced Thomas Shannon, who is now the US ambassador to Brazil. (photo of Arturo Valenzuela courtesy Internet)
