Colombia's President Uribe Visits Tegucigalpa
Last Updated on Saturday, 30 January 2010 17:18
Colombia's President Álvaro Uribe arrived in Honduras on Saturday to meet with President Porfirio Lobo and reiterate his recognition of the new Honduran government. He signed cooperation agreements with President Lobo in the areas of agriculture, security, and trade, and announced that Colombia on February 15 will begin providing material support to Honduras to combat illegal drug trafficking. President Uribe's trip is the first official state visit under the Lobo administration. Mr. Uribe did not attend Mr. Lobo's swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday due to his participation in the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland last week. Vice-President Francisco Santos represented Colombia at the inauguration. Mr. Uribe made a stop-over in Tegucigalpa on his return flight from Europe. (photo of Álvaro Uribe courtesy Internet)
