Panama Backs Honduran Elections

In an interview with the Panamanian newspaper La Estrella de Panamá, President Ricardo Martinelli of Panama said that his government will recognize the upcoming national elections in Honduras. He called on the people of Honduras to participate in the electoral process in a spirit of harmony. He also urged the international community to support the elections and the eventual winner of the presidential contest, saying, "The best way to come out of the [political] crisis is to hold the election in peace and to have them recognized internationally."
